My Research
My research project is on the gender based roles in society. Why have female and male been divided and set apart from each other, to be not equal and have different roles that only that sex can do. If the other sex attempts to play their opposite role they are looked at weird or frowned on. Also the fact that males are dominant in society and why is this? My thesis would revolve around those ideas i have not really come up with one that fits all that i need to say in it. I am having trouble with the research, where to plug it in, what exactly i am looking for and how to organize it and put it all together. I want to know what people will find interesting about my topic, what i can relate to them ha anything that will make my paper interesting. My research project will allow people to understand that even in our modern times today we are still faced with the segregation of the sexes. Women are still expected to take care of the children and cook and men are still expected to go to work. Although there has been a very small break through with some men staying home with the children and the women going to work our society sees that as horrifying and it makes the men look weak and are to be treated like women. Why is it that men can not stay home with out question and the women be the provider? People should be more aware of what they are really going through, its why its harder for women to get jobs and men to have better social status. Because everyone has been around these ideas people are so used to the concept and because women have been able to vote and be looked at as equals that settled for that and thought it was enough. Isnt it time to have the title and be treated like equals to?

It looks like you have alot good ideas and a bunch of different ways you can take this paper. But i'm sure there is a way you can tie them all together. It sounds like your going to be using alot of history in this paper. In fact, you might need to take it back to the dawn of time becuase women's roles have been set in stone for a very long time. Then look how roles have progressed. The feminist movement will probably play a big role in your paper too. You could also incorperate other discrimination struggles into your paper as well (civil rights, gay rights, ect). You've got alot of information at your disposal so i hope you are able to organize everything and be able to say what you want about this topic.
GOOD LUCK!

Well it seems like you have a lot of ideas of what you want to talk about but you are having trouble of connecting them all together and having a starting point. What are you exactly trying to say? Start there and then try and organize your paper. You can start how men are looked at to be the provider and then women are to be home, you know the whole "nuclear Family" type of situtaion and then in the next contradict that with when the roles are switched how it affects the family how women are looked down on and then how men are looked down on. so then you would be able to compare and contrast of how and maybe why society acts the way it does when these roles are changed.
YOu might also want to point how how they havent changed much. Becaus i thought it was becoming more common for the man to stay at home and not be rediculed. so you might want to expand on that because i thought it was okay. Just a thought. Anyways hoped that helped.
I actually think that this is a very interesting research topic. If you can find hard evidence to back your opinions and shed more light on the subject of how gender roles came to be i think you will have an excellent research paper. The thing that makes your subject interesting is that it applies to everyone (almost). I think the one of the main reasons gender roles still exist is people are to afraid to stray from the norm. People are to caught up in the dominant paradigm that they are afraid to think differently. You can probably go into conservative versus contempory thought but that would be a completely different essay.
